No yield-bearing CAD instrument exists on-chain in commercial distribution. Verified absent across Purpose, Evolve, 3iQ, Wealthsimple, Fidelity Canada, CI, Global X and all three CAD stablecoin issuers (QCAD, CADD, CADC/Loon). Stablecoin Act s.32 prohibits an issuer paying interest or yield, directly or indirectly; s.12 exempts a financial institution, which is the opening Tetra may sit in. Bank of Canada is the supervisor. s.97 is not yet in force; the operative Finance Canada timeline is 2027.
An empty shelf in a currency with a real policy rate is a gap between what savers are owed and what they can reach. It closes when someone with the licence to hold the underlying paper is willing to put a claim on it on-chain. Until then, holders of CAD choosing to earn are choosing to hold a different currency, whether they have priced that decision or not. The calculator prices it.

No CAD instrument pays yield on chain (see the CAD empty shelf finding, and s.32 of the Stablecoin Act constrains an issuer paying yield directly or indirectly). Three live CAD stablecoins exist to hold at zero.
VCAD (VersaBank): Piloted from February 2021 as a digital deposit receipt on Stellar, passed a SOC 2 audit, never shipped to the public, wound down late 2022. Named here so nobody mistakes its absence for our failure to look.
Zero yield is still an option: it removes the FX exposure without paying anyone. These are listed for completeness, not endorsed, and none of them is a shelf instrument because none pays yield.
